About Me

I'm Ryan Thomson, a 2:15 Marathon runner from Scotland. I have been running competitively since the age of 9, with very little success until my late teenage years, where I was successfully able to balance my studies with a high level of training and ultimately earn a scholarship to a University in America.

My time at University in America didn't go the way that I had envisioned and in the end became my biggest lesson in what not to do in training and racing.

Returning from America after only 10 months in the Summer of 2018, I was almost 2 minutes down on my 10K PB and had a lot of important decisions to make regarding my running, decisions which coincided with my first full time job.

I ultimately decided that I would take over my own coaching, with some help from my parents who were very strong runners, and haven't stopped progressing since, only switching up this coaching setup in the Summer of 2024 after some marathon performances which didn't meet my expectations.

After 20 years in the sport, running a personal best in at least 1 distance in each of those years, I still have as much passion as I did as a 9 year old. In more recent years, I have found a lot of satisfaction in coaching and seeing athletes who I've helped achieve their goals in the sport and push even further than they ever thought they could.
